Your Calling is Calling
by Natasha Cooksey
I couldn’t sleep so I reached over and grabbed my Blackberry at 3 a.m. I scrolled through my Inbox and felt compelled to open an e-mail I would normally delete and never give it a second thought. At the top of the e-mail was an advertisement whose words jumped off the screen and appeared to magnify. It read, “Your calling is calling.” As you can imagine, I gasped and my heart started racing, in my spirit I knew this was not an accident. God was speaking through a SPAM e-mail advertisement telling me, “Your calling is calling.”
Quite frankly, I don’t believe the word was just for me because I began to see faces appear before me—some people I knew personally, others I know of, and some I could not identify. More than likely, if you are reading this, this word is for you—“Your calling is calling.”
For several months, God has been speaking to me about 2009 and it being a year to step into the callings of Christ Jesus has placed before us. There is no time to procrastinate. In the Spirit, there is an urgency to go about the Father’s business, the growth of HIS KINGDOM. My dad used to play a song years ago with a repetitive line that said, “Get in, get out, but don’t you get run over.” It’s time to get our priorities straight. NO MORE EXCUSES. No more passing the buck just because we may not like the direction God is leading. If we don’t align ourselves to His spirit, we could miss the mark completely. It’s our choice.
As for our household, Ferrell and I have set our faces like flint and said for 2009, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14, NIV).” We’ve fought too hard and too long to give up now. What about you? What about your household?
I say to you again—“Your calling is calling.” If you are an intercessor, find a group of intercessors and begin to intercede. If you are a teacher, teach. If you are a musician, singer, artisan, dancer, worship with your gift. If you are a writer, write. If you are a leader, lead. If you are called into deliverance, hook up with a deliverance team. If you are called into healing, begin to lay hands on the sick and pray for others. If you are a prophet, prophesy. If all you can do is clean or cook, then clean or cook. WHATEVER your gift/calling is, 2009 is time to put it into action. There are NO MORE EXCUSES…TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.
In closing, let me be so kind to say (as my husband has told me countless times), “Get over yourself and go about who you were called to be!” Stop rationalizing and over-analyzing and just go for it! (This is a plot to keep you from accomplishing your destiny!) Sure, 2009 will have its difficulties but the rewards will be much greater. Come on, you can do it. We can do it. We were created for such a time as this!!!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11. NIV)
When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message: “Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this. (Esther 4:13-14, The Message)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV)
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. (Romans 8:30, NIV)
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. (Ephesians 1:18, NIV)
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. (Ephesians 4:10-15, NIV)
